Dermatologic skin cancer excision and repair is Dr. Beals’ primary focus. Surgical procedures are performed on an outpatient basis in our specially equipped surgical suite. A biopsy is performed at the first appointment. If a surgical appointment is needed, it is then scheduled after a diagnosis has been determined. Our primary goal is helping you understand your treatment options and procedure. Dr. Beals offers a face-to-face discussion, allowing you to make a knowledgeable decision on your skin care.
We are proud to offer our patients the latest laser technology in hair removal, spider vein removal and acne care. The Gentle YAG laser by Candela offers a unique Patented Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD), which results in greater patient comfort, faster treatment and quicker recovery. Ideal for all skin types, the Gentle YAG laser is effective in treating unwanted hair, spider veins and wrinkles as well as acne when used in conjunction with chemical peels.
Dr. Beals uses Ellipse Intense Pulsed Light Technology (I2PL) to treat acne as well as to diffuse or eliminate redness and pigmented lesions. The Ellipse I2PL technology is a second generation system that is clinically proven to be safe and effective. The laser utilizes a method called selective photothermolysis, allowing only the wavelengths needed to complete the treatment through to the skin. Without the need for artificial cooling, this laser treatment method has been known to minimize the possibility of side effects and uses significantly less energy than other lasers.
Many variables can cause your skin to change, whether it's time or simply the environment. Signs of aging may become prevalent earlier in life due to stress, overexposure to the sun and other factors. Our laser skin rejuvenation program can help reduce the effects aging has on your skin as well as promote a healthier overall look. Using Intense Pulse Light (IPL) technology, we can focus the laser on the affected area without damaging any surrounding tissue and leave your skin fresh and rejuvenated. After a series of treatments every few weeks, we recommend follow-up treatments as well as continuing a proper skin care regimen to ensure that your skin stays healthy and younger looking for a long time.
If you’re looking at improving the appearance of your skin, Restylane may be the option for you. Restylane is a dermal filler consisting of hyaluronic acid, which naturally exists in the body, that aids in correcting facial wrinkles. Widely used around the world, Restylane yields long-lasting results, normally up to six months. Dr. Beals uses an extremely fine needle to inject small amounts of the filler into the skin, which aids in patient comfort throughout the procedure. The results are almost immediate! Free of animal proteins, Restylane is a safe and easy way to bring back your skin’s healthy and beautiful appearance.
There are various types of chemical facial peels that can aid in skin rejuvenation. We have a licensed esthetician on staff who gives facials and performs superficial peels (“weekend peels”). Superficial peels generally last 15-20 minutes after the chemical peeling agent (glycolic acid) is placed. The agent helps to resurface the upper layers of the skin to restore a more youthful, healthy look. Dr. Beals also performs medium depth peels (35% trichloracetic acid peel). A medium depth peel requires more healing days; however, it will also yield better results than with a superficial peel. Breaking through the deeper skin layers, medium depth peels are a popular option for skin rejuvenation. Ask us which chemical facial peel may be right for you.
Sclerotherapy is a widely used nonsurgical procedure that eliminates spider and varicose veins. Using an ultrafine needle, Dr. Beals injects a sclerosing agent into the vein, which will cause them to dissolve and eventually disappear. Patients undergoing sclerotherapy generally experience very little discomfort and can return to work that same day. Often used as an alternative to surgery, sclerotherapy can reduce or eliminate spider and varicose veins in 1-6 treatments, depending upon the extent of the problem and patient compliance following the procedure.
